A model drawing from the Hanna Barbera animated series Samson & Goliath (1967-1968). Featuring a cyclops, a Tyrannosaurus Rex and Dr. Desto, the graphite and ink drawing was created and signed by Alex Toth at the studio during the early development process. The drawing was used in the creation of the eighteenth episode of season one, titled "The Terrible Dr. Desto," which aired on January 6, 1968. Original model drawings are photocopied at the studio and distributed to ensure character consistency among animators. The originals are much rarer than their photocopied counterparts. Toth was a brilliant animator and artist who started his career in comics, eventually transitioning to animation in the 1960s and 1970s for Hanna Barbera Studios. Always extremely detailed and dynamic, Toth's drawings are very desirable among collectors. Measuring 10.5"x12.5", the model drawing is in very good condition with minor discoloration and slight surface and edge wear due to age and handling.
